Cookie Policy

Last updated: 30 June 2026

This page lists every cookie and item of browser storage that LockRole sets, what each one is for, and how long it lasts. It complements our Privacy Policy.

Our approach

LockRole only uses cookies and local storage that are strictly necessary to deliver the service you have asked for: signing in, keeping you signed in, processing payments, and remembering that you have seen our cookie notice. We do not use cookies for advertising, behavioural profiling, or cross-site tracking, and we do not embed third-party analytics scripts.

Under Article 5(3) of the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC, as amended), strictly-necessary cookies do not require prior consent. We still surface a one-time notice so you know we use them.

Cookies LockRole sets directly

No first-party cookiesLockRole does not set any cookies from the lockrole.com domain directly. Authentication is handled by Clerk and payments by Paddle (see below).

Cookies set by service providers we use

The following third parties set cookies in your browser when you use LockRole. Each one is required for a specific feature to work and we do not enable any optional, advertising, or analytics cookies they may otherwise offer.

Clerk (authentication)

Clerk powers sign-in, sign-up, and session management. When you sign in, Clerk sets a small number of cookies on its own domain (clerk.lockrole.com) so that we can verify who you are on every request. If you block these cookies you will not be able to sign in.

NamePurposeDuration
__sessionEncrypted session token used to authenticate your requests to LockRole.Session (cleared on sign-out)
__client_uatTimestamp of your last sign-in; used to keep the session in sync across tabs.1 year
__clerk_db_jwtShort-lived JWT used by Clerk during development handshakes; not present in production for most users.Session

Clerk publishes the full list and its own privacy notice at clerk.com/legal/privacy.

Paddle (payments)

Paddle is our merchant of record. Paddle's checkout overlay and receipt pages set cookies on Paddle-owned domains (paddle.com, paddlejs.com) to process your payment securely, prevent fraud, and remember your billing details across the checkout steps. These cookies only run while you are interacting with Paddle's checkout. Paddle's cookie list is at paddle.com/legal/cookie-policy.

Local storage we use

In addition to cookies, LockRole writes a small amount of data to your browser's local storage. Local storage stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.

NamePurposeDuration
lockrole.consent.v1Records that you have acknowledged this cookie notice so we do not show it on every visit.Until you clear browser data

No analytics, no advertising, no tracking

We do not run Google Analytics, Plausible, Mixpanel, PostHog, or any equivalent. We do not embed advertising networks. We do not share data with social-media tracking pixels. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated and we will ask for your consent first where the law requires it.

How to control cookies in your browser

You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. Help pages for the major browsers:

Because the cookies we use are strictly necessary, blocking them will break parts of LockRole. Blocking Clerk cookies prevents you from signing in. Blocking Paddle cookies prevents you from completing a payment.

Changes to this policy

If we add a new cookie or service, we will update this page and change the “Last updated” date at the top. If we ever introduce a non-essential cookie, the cookie banner will turn into a granular opt-in surface and we will not set the new cookie unless you opt in.
